The accolade comes in listing magazine Time Out's '100 Best
Shops in London'. Number one on the list was Liberty in Regent
Street.
Rough Trade was founded 35 years ago in west London and opened its
East store in 2007. Like many of the top-rated stores, Rough Trade
is an independent, rather than a chain. Time Out says of the shop
"you cannot get much closer to musical nirvana".
Rough Trade director Nigel House sits on the board of ERA and Rough
Trade East store manager Spencer Hickman has been the driving force
behind the UK's Record Store Day.
